4 Haiti trip: In the city

We continue our journey of the places we visited in Haiti. We continue from the point where we were on the map, the point which is alone on the map. We go East to where we find two points, this is Delmas 65 near Port-au-Prince where the school The Forteresse is with Michel Charbonneau and a little further an American mission’s orphanage. This orphanage has girls that were gathered from the streets, they were alone and abandoned. They are now about 18 years old and they must leave the orphanage. What normally happens with girls in orphanages is that they don’t know how to work with their hands and they find themselves on the streets with a nice high school diploma. Therefore, they want to quickly find a man, then they find themselves pregnant and then abandoned by the man and in a worst condition. When we went to this orphanage during our second trip they shared with us this situation, we talked to them about a trade school and our vision so that youths can learn and practice a trade, we were happily surprised when we returned to see them during our 3rd trip when they told us that they are placing the girls in a house on grounds of another Christian school in the country where they can learn a trade. We have shared More for Haiti’s idea, a ministry that has a goal of connecting the Christian schools so that we can together work to form young workers and to let the Lord establish an economy so that these young Christians can become a witness of what God is doing in the lives of those who want to follow Him. To bring a blessing slowly but surely by following the path that He is showing us. He’s the one who opens doors. If we advance with our eyes on our past experiences, our know-how and strengths, we risk losing our vision and become pessimistic. We serve a God of creativity who bring new things to Haiti for His children, for He wants to save souls and the country. We must position ourselves so that He walk in front of us and opens the path before us showing us His desire for the years to come in Haiti with the youths. In Isaiah 40.3 the Lord gave me a word of hope and perseverance that He will make a work in this country.

Isaiah 40.3

“The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.  Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed”

Children in La Forteresse (Michel Charbonneau) waiting for a rendez-vous with the dentist, Dr Jalbert, for whom I was a dental assistant for a day. Which was an honor for me because our four kids were baptised in the Holy Spirit after a Sunday School course that Dr Jalbert gave on this subject many years ago. Thanks to the servants of the Lord towards children around the world.
